About the Inventory Add/Edit task.

While information following is not required reading immediately - you may want to browse - then when you are looking for additional information on features of your Byte Designs Software System, read on.

Byte Designs uses the same task for adding part numbers to the inventory master file and to make changes.

The main prompt is the part number prompt. This is not only where part numbers are entered directly, but there are also several functions available.

The Part number prompt

Type a part number, followed by pressing the ENTER key.

Part number found

The System will look for the part and if it exists will display all the information on your screen. The cursor will be at the bottom of your screen, at the edit prompt.

To make changes to a field press the letter shown to the left of the field description. Some fields do not have their own `letter' - press the letter for a field ahead of, or behind the field you actually want to go to.

Part number is a duplicate

If the part number entered exists more than once in the inventory master file the `duplicate part number' window will show all the records with the same part number so that you can select the correct one.

Part number not found

If the part number does not exist the cursor will be at the first field waiting for input.

If the part number was mis-typed and you do not want to add the item as new press ESC ESC and you will return to the part number prompt.
